Oak CEO Sadaf Abbas joins GHWO as Chief Coordinator for Community Development and Social Welfare

Oak Business Consultant CEO Sadaf Abbas has joined Global Helpline Welfare Organization (GHWO), a UN-recognized Pakistani NGO active since 2003, as Chief Coordinator for Community Development and Social Welfare. She takes on the role as part of her personal CSR commitment, and several of her other business ventures will now direct 10 percent of their proceeds toward GHWO’s field programs.
A formal role, not just a partnership
Sadaf already leads the Oakistan coalition, a group of nine Pakistan-based businesses, including Oak Business Consultant, that channel CSR resources into GHWO’s programs. As Chief Coordinator, she takes on a formal, day-to-day role in shaping how those resources reach the ground: mapping partner contributions to specific UN Sustainable Development Goals, and working with GHWO’s field teams on delivery and reporting.
“Pakistan’s SDG future belongs to all of us, regardless of language, province or faith,” said Sadaf. “Joining GHWO in this capacity lets me turn that belief into a working structure, not just a partnership on paper.”
Programs and the SDGs behind them
GHWO runs six core programs across Karachi, rural Sindh and Azad Kashmir, reaching more than 12,500 people a year: hepatitis B and C screening and vaccination (SDG 3, good health), HIV/AIDS awareness and support (SDG 3), free medical camps and eye care (SDG 3), education and vocational scholarships (SDG 4, quality education), clean water hand pump installation (SDG 6, clean water and sanitation), and emergency relief and livelihood creation (SDG 1, no poverty, and SDG 8, decent work). Across the coalition, Sadaf’s own coordination work is tagged to SDG 8 (decent work), SDG 10 (reduced inequalities) and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).
Syed Samsaam Rizvi, GHWO’s founder and chairman, welcomed the appointment. “We do not serve communities. We belong to them,” he said. “Sadaf brings a level of strategic CSR discipline that helps us turn partner commitments into programs people can actually see and measure.”
The 10 percent CSR commitment
The commitment applies to a portion of Sadaf’s other business interests and adds to the existing Oakistan model, in which coalition partners including Oak Mizaaj, Noshaba Pure, Rebecca Studio, Desi Bros, Oak Textile, Oak Media, 1SOL, Essa Academy and Ikigai each contribute according to their own capacity, from product donations to event support to digital storytelling.
